FSA is delighted to host Drew Smith, Executive Director of Friends Council on Education, who will address the challenges of “Teaching Children in Turbulent Times,” for this year’s Quaker Education Night on October 17.
Drew’s message will shed light on how students at Friends schools are encouraged to come together in the spirit of respect for all, to find a way to listen deeply to one another and to value the gifts that all their peers bring with them so that they might, together, imagine an ideal society.
Drew Smith is a longtime Friends educator and administrator. As Executive Director of the Friends Council on Education, Drew provides guidance and support to all of the Council’s member schools, giving him a great depth of experience and insight into his topic for the evening. Families and community partners who are interested in learning more about the Quaker educational approach to teaching children to be peacemakers and bridge builders are invited to attend.
Quaker Education Night will take place on Tuesday, October 17, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Friends School of Atlanta,862 Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030. The event is free and open to the public.
