BA Deaf Education – MacMurray College
MEd Early Childhood / Early Childhood Special Education – George Washington University
EdS Deaf Education – Gallaudet University

An Illinois native, Jillian grew interested in deaf education when she experienced the deaf community while visiting family in Jacksonville, Illinois, as a child. After taking American Sign Language (ASL) in high school, she moved to Jackson to further her studies. She previously taught preschool at Gallaudet University’s Kendall Demonstration School for three years. Upon relocating to Atlanta in 2010, she spent seven years at Atlanta Area School for the Deaf teaching everything from preschool to fourth grade. Jillian’s curriculum relies heavily on project-based learning, which involves posing a problem to her students and having them come up with a solution through interactive projects that often include research and presentations. She oversees the American Sign Language Club for the elementary school.
