Laura is a lifelong Quaker and has been an active member of the Atlanta Friends Meeting (AFM) for many years, having served as Young Friends Program Coordinator, and presently as clerk/teacher for the AFM Religious Education Program. She is dedicated to the spiritual nurturing and growth of children and aims to incorporate Quaker testimonies and values into all of her curriculum. Laura coordinates Quaker Life at FSA through staff development, curriculum development and annual grant projects, such as the Quaker Visitor Program partnership between AFM and FSA. In the Elementary Reading Room, Laura creates a space of welcome where Friends values are woven into curation of each section; fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, leveled reader and chapter book fiction, Spanish and Quaker Resource Library collections. Laura teaches Middle School Exploratory Yoga and Service Learning classes. In the summer, Laura can be found leading FSA camp’s Grounded Kids Yoga and Wonder of Nature. She is presently a student at Columbia Theological Seminary, a candidate for a masters in community-based practical theology, educational ministry, and a contextual education intern in curriculum development, leadership development and children’s collection library sciences.
