Juan is retired after a 40+ year career in education that began as an Upper School history teacher at his alma mater, Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia. Juan went on to teach and serve as an administrator at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, and at the Paideia School in Atlanta. Juan has sought to repay the immeasurable debt he owes to Quaker schools by serving on various boards. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Friends Council on Education and in addition to serving on the Board of FSA, he has been on the Board of Trustees at Sandy Spring Friends School, Friends’ Central School and the International Friends School, a bilingual (Mandarin and English) Quaker elementary school that is now in its fifth year. After retiring, Juan and his wife moved to Redmond, WA, to be near their daughter and four grandchildren.
