Jan has decades of teaching experience. Upon matriculating from the University of Georgia, she began teaching in Clayton County, GA in 1992. After having served several years with Clayton County Public Schools, she transferred to Henry County and retired from public school teaching there in 2015. Beginning in 2001, she worked with Dr. Martha Wood of the Southeastern Center for the Enhancement of Learning and the Feuerstein Institute of Jerusalem, Israel to become a practitioner and trainer of the Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment Program and the Learning Propensity Assessment Method. She traveled to Cluj Napoca, Romania in 2011 and Paris, France in 2014 to complete that training. Subsequently, she has traveled to several private schools around the country to train the staff in the Feuerstein system of cognitive development.
Her introduction to The Friends School of Atlanta came through her granddaughter who attended FSA from fourth grade through eighth grade and received a robust education, not only in academics but in emotional and spiritual maturity as well. Jan is in love with the Friends School of Atlanta! She enjoys spending time with her two granddaughters and grandson, reading, singing, and attending to her two cats!
