Dorothy “Dot” López has been in Quaker education for twenty years. She is currently in her first year as the Head of School for Friends School of Atlanta (FSA). Prior to joining FSA, she worked at Moorestown Friends School (MFS) for fifteen years and held several teaching and leadership roles. At MFS she taught middle and upper school math, served as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Director of the Camden Scholars Program, which provides nearly full-tuition scholarships for academically talented students with financial need who live in the city of Camden, NJ. Dot started her mathematics teaching career at George School (PA). Prior to being an educator, Dot was a sales executive for IBM in New York City.
Dot is a graduate of Spelman College and Georgia Institute of Technology earning degrees in mathematics and industrial engineering. She graduated from Friends Council’s Institute for Engaging Leadership in Friends Schools as a member of the 2007-2009 cohort. Dot is committed to Quaker education, and has been able to ground her work in making visible the rich connection between Quaker values and creating a culture of belonging in Quaker schools.
