Sharon believes firmly that critical and creative thinking and problem-solving, perseverance, and the ability to reflect are invaluable skills in a quickly and continuously changing world. Art is, in her opinion, one of the best disciplines through which to support students in their development of these skills. With over eight years in the field of education in institutions with vastly different philosophies, Sharon curates practices and approaches which she feels will best support her students. As such, she strives to strike the careful balance between structure and freedom, skill development and expression, steadfastly focused on supporting and challenging her students to move beyond what they previously thought possible. In fact, it is her greatest joy in teaching to see, and play a hand in, a student’s recognition of new potential in themselves.
When Sharon is not mucking about in clay and paint she entertains herself outdoors in the sunshine and spends as much time as possible with her family.
