Karen is a retired educator, having served as a teacher for 20 years in public and independent schools; 22 years in educational administration in daycare and as Elementary Head for FSA. She has been a member of the Atlanta Friends Meeting since 1976. Karen volunteers with the Atlanta Friends Meeting, the southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting and the Alternatives to Violence Project.
Karen’s heart for the school started early while serving on the Friends Meeting school planning committee from 1987-1991. She loves that FSA teaches to the goodness of each child in a collaborative learning environment for students and employees, and that the school actively recruits and serves children, families, and faculty/staff from diverse racial, socio-economic, religious, and ethic backgrounds, national origins, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
Karen has served as a Trustee for five years and continues to serve on the board.
